Privacy Policy
Scorecard does not collect any data about you. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no servers, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking of any kind. The app contains no third-party SDKs. Everything you enter stays on your own devices.
What the app stores, and where
Scorecard saves the following on the device you are using, so that a game in progress is still there when you come back to it:
- Scorecards and the scores on them
- The names of the players you add, including your saved roster of regular players
- Your settings — theme, favourites, home screen layout and similar preferences
- Scorecards you choose to archive, including any PDFs generated from them
None of this is transmitted to the developer or to anyone else. Deleting the app removes it from that device.
Cloud backup
On iPhone, iPad and Mac: if you are signed in to iCloud, Scorecard uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage to keep a small amount of data consistent across your own Apple devices: your settings, your saved player roster, your favourite games and which introductory walkthroughs you have seen. Saved and archived scorecards are not synced and remain on the device that created them. This data travels through your personal iCloud account, is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and the developer of Scorecard cannot access it. You can stop it by turning Scorecard off under iCloud in your device's Settings.
On Android: Scorecard uses Android's Auto Backup for Apps, which includes your scorecards, saved player roster, archived scorecards and their PDFs, and your settings in your device's own Google Account backup, so they can be restored when you set up a new Android device or reinstall the app. This is device migration rather than live sync — two Android devices in use during the same week do not see each other's changes through this mechanism, unlike iCloud above. This backup is stored in your personal Google Account, handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy, and the developer of Scorecard cannot access it. You can turn this off under Backup in your device's Settings.
Local network
Scorecard can share a live scorecard with other devices in the same room — several people scoring the same game together, or putting the scoreboard up on a television (Apple TV or Android TV). This runs entirely over your local Wi-Fi network, directly between the devices taking part. No internet connection is used, nothing passes through a server, and nothing is stored off your devices. The scores and player names shown are visible to the other devices you connect to, and to nobody else.
Health and fitness
On Apple Watch: Scorecard can record a workout while you play, so a game counts toward your Activity rings. If, and only if, you grant permission, the app reads your heart rate and active energy while that workout is running, and saves the completed workout to the Health app. This information is used to display and record the workout, stays on your device under your control in Health, and is never sent to the developer. You can decline the request or withdraw permission at any time in the Health app, and the rest of the app works normally without it.
On Wear OS: Scorecard can record an exercise session while you play Golf, Disc Golf or Volleyball, so the game counts toward your device's fitness tracking. If, and only if, you grant the Activity Recognition permission (and, for Golf and Disc Golf, Location), the app records the exercise session for as long as it is running. This stays on your device under your control and is never sent to the developer. Unlike Apple Watch, this does not read your heart rate. You can decline the permission or withdraw it later in your device's app settings, and the rest of the app works normally without it.
Location
While a golf scorecard is open, Scorecard can use your location to measure how far a shot travelled. Location is used only while the app is in use, only for that measurement, and is never recorded, transmitted or shared. The permission is optional and everything else in the app works without it.
Children
Scorecard is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no data at all, it collects nothing from children either. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases and no links to third-party content.
Data sharing and sale
The developer receives no personal data from this app, and therefore has none to sell, share, rent or disclose. There are no advertising partners, no data brokers and no analytics providers.
Information your app store provides
On Apple platforms: downloads, purchases, TestFlight participation and crash reports are handled by Apple and are governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Where you have opted in to sharing with developers, Apple may pass on anonymised, aggregated crash and usage statistics. These arrive without any information identifying you, and are used only to fix problems in the app. You can turn this off under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements in your device's Settings.
On Google Play: downloads and crash/ANR reports are handled by Google Play and are governed by Google's own privacy policy. Where you have opted in to sharing diagnostics, Google may pass on anonymised, aggregated crash and usage statistics to help fix problems in the app. These arrive without any information identifying you. You can review this in your Google Play Store settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Any change that affects how information is handled will be reflected here before the change ships in the app.
